summer blockbusters cometh

Other than awards season, the summer season in the movie world is always the most exciting!
Big names, big budgets and teasing trailers all ensure bums on seats and high grossing figures.

Here are a few which i cannot wait for:

THOR
Director: Kenneth Brannagh
Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman & Anthony Hopkins

Plot: Thor; the mighty and arrogant warrior is sent to planet earth from his home realm, Asgard to live with us mere mortals and see whats going down. The god of thunder soon becomes a loyal protector of the human race.

Whats all the fuss about?: Based on one of the most loved marvel superhero characters: The Mighty Thor.
Budget of $150 million.
The part of Thor is played by a virtually unknown Aussie actor, Chris Hemsworth, who will reprise the role in highly anticipated, The Avengers which is due for release 2012.

Whens it out?: 27th April 2011 (UK)

SCREAM 4
Director: Wes Craven
Starring: Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, David Arquette

Plot: 10 years have passed since the ghost face killer last terrorised Sydney Prescott, who  is now an author. She re-visits Woodsboro on her book tour and reunites with Deputy Dewie and Gale Weathers, where her appearance spark up some more mysterious ghost face encounters and where a new wave of pretty young things are lending their screams (and their insides) to a new killer.

Whats all the fuss about?: Fourth instalment of the franchise, that re-unites the original surviving characters along with the brilliant writing from Kevin Williamson, who was absent from the disappointing Scream 3, but who wrote the brilliant first and second in the series.
Its boasts a new wave of scream queens including Emma Roberts, Hayden Patteriere, Kristen Bell and Anna Paquin and also promises new rules for a new decade.
Whens it out?: 15th April 2011 (UK)

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS
Director: Matthew Vaughn
Starring: James Mcavoy,  Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Kevin Bacon, January Jones, Nicholas Holt.

Plot: Prequel to the X-men Franchise; a younger professor Xavier starts his special school for super humans and later a team of X-men which includes his best friend, Eric Lensherr who goes on to become his archenemy, Magento.

Whats all the fuss about?: Its an X-Men movie silly.
Bryan Singer who did a great job in Directing the first two X-men movie's, wrote the story for this one and Matthew Vaughn of Kick-Ass fame is directing. The character of Emma Frost is finally being written into one of the X-men franchises (she first showed up in the awful mid-nineties TV movie: Generation X)
Whens it out?: 2nd June 2011 (UK)

  1. We'll probably go see X-Men, I can tell already. Maybe Thor as well, so as not to miss out anything when we go see the Avengers *sigh*
When are they doing a Justice League movie? :D
